Olivet Discourse: Prediction of Temple’s Destruction and Signs

Era: Life of Christ
c. AD 30 – AD 33
Passages: Matthew 24:1-35; Mark 13:1-31; Luke 21:5-33

Jesus foretells the fall of Jerusalem and speaks of future tribulation and His return.

Leaving the temple, Jesus predicts that not one stone will be left on another. On the Mount of Olives, He answers the disciples’ questions about the temple’s destruction, signs of the end, and His coming. He speaks of wars, earthquakes, persecution, false christs, and the need for endurance, blending near-term judgment on Jerusalem with long-range eschatological hope.
