Abiathar Escapes and Flees after David.
One of Ahimelech's sons escaped - this was Abiathar, who made his way to David in the forest of Hareth, saving his own life by rescuing the high priest's vestments (1Sa 23:6, 9). When he shared his tragic story with David, he expressed regret that such a devastating outcome had resulted from Doeg's malice and ambition. David also took responsibility for the disaster that befell Abiathar's family, acknowledging that he had inadvertently brought it about. In response, David invited Abiathar to stay with him, confident in God's promise of protection and convinced that he could safeguard his guest.
