Herod Thinks Jesus a Resurrection of the Murdered Baptist
The alarm that Herod Antipas felt about Jesus occurred during the time when Jesus sent out his twelve apostles on their mission and shortly after John the Baptist had been imprisoned for more than a year.
Herod's Theory of the Works of Christ (Matthew 14:1-2)
At this time, Herod Antipas, one of the three sons of Herod the Great and brother of Archelaus, who ruled as ethnarch over Galilee and Perea, heard about Jesus' reputation. His name was well-known throughout the region.
Herod's servants informed him that John the Baptist had risen from the dead and was now active in the person of Jesus. This notion haunted Herod's conscience like a ghostly presence, making him believe that John was alive again and possessing supernatural powers through Jesus.
