His Host, and Engines of War.
Uzziah organized a massive army of 307,500 fighting men, divided into uniform companies or regiments that served in rotation. Two officials skilled in military record-keeping oversaw the enrollment process under the supervision of Hananiah, one of the king's high-ranking officers. Each company was led by two thousand experienced officers, who were also heads of their respective families. This system allowed each family to form a distinct unit.
The army was fully equipped with all necessary military gear, including helmets, coats of mail, and slings for throwing stones. The soldiers were organized in this way so that they could be easily mobilized and deployed as needed.
Uzziah also developed advanced engines for launching projectiles, such as arrows and large stones. These machines were likely invented by skilled craftsmen who had a talent for innovation. This was the first recorded use of such technology in history, and it is believed to have originated during Uzziah's reign. The fact that these engines were used successfully suggests that Uzziah was blessed with remarkable support until he reached a position of great strength and influence.
