-10 David turns to Solomon and emphasizes the importance of genuine devotion.
He wants Solomon to know God in a personal way, not just intellectually, but through a deepening relationship with Him that comes from loving and serving Him.
Then David gave Solomon the detailed plans for the temple, including its elevations, measurements, rooms, and main furnishings. These designs were based on the pattern revealed to him by God (1Ch 28:19).
The plans were still vivid in his mind, as if he had received them with the help of the Spirit.
-16 Solomon made the silver candlesticks into gold ones, deviating from David's instructions only where it was possible to do so more grandly. There was one candlestick and table in the tabernacle, but ten in the temple.
-19 The chariot of the cherubim referred to the throne-like structure formed by their expanded wings (Ps 18:10; 99:1). This was not a matter of personal preference or architectural style, but rather a faithful rendering of God's revealed will. David had seen the entire edifice in a vision, including its furnishings, and had taken detailed notes to pass on to Solomon.
David urges Solomon to be strong and courageous, repeating the encouragement he began in 1Ch 28:9.
The assembly includes representatives from the priestly courses, Levites, princes, and all the people – skilled artisans as well as those who need guidance in their work.
