4-17. That same night, God spoke to Nathan the prophet.
11. The Lord also told David that he would establish a lasting dynasty for him and secure his throne forever.
12. I will appoint one of your descendants to succeed you as king, and he will build a house for my name. I will establish his kingdom forever.
13. This promise referred primarily to Solomon, who would build the Temple in Jerusalem and establish David's dynasty on the throne. However, it also has a broader application, referring to Jesus Christ, God's Son of another nature (Hebrews 1:8).
