The Tribes Anoint David King over Israel.
A delegation of leaders from all the tribes of Israel came to David (1 Chronicles 11:1). This was a crucial moment in David's life, as he possessed the essential qualification for kingship: being an Israelite himself (Deuteronomy 17:15). His military prowess had already been demonstrated, and the people were aware of God's plan for him, as revealed by Samuel (1 Samuel 16:11-13).
David was formally recognized as king in Hebron before the Lord. This involved a covenant or treaty between David and the people, which was typically made at the beginning of a new dynasty or after a period of usurpation (2 Kings 11:17). In some cases, it was also renewed when a new king took power (1 Kings 12:4). The occasion was marked by religious ceremonies.
