Ge 25:7-11 Death of Abraham.

Death of Abraham.

Abraham's death is recorded here, although he lived for another 15 years after Jacob and Esau were teenagers. This marked a century since his arrival in Canaan. The "father of the faithful" and "friend of God" (James 2:23) had passed away, and even in death, the promises made to him were fulfilled (compare Genesis 15:15). It is noteworthy that we are not given any account of Abraham's final experiences or conversations; instead, the Spirit of God has chosen to focus on his life and legacy. This is fitting, as Abraham was taken directly into heaven at the time of his death (Luke 16:22), where he continues to live (Matthew 22:32).

His sons, Isaac and Ishmael, along with other relatives, buried him in a joint effort, putting aside their differences for the sake of their father's memory. Death often has a way of reconciling those who have been estranged, bringing people together in shared grief.
