Abraham's guests were no ordinary travelers; their presence and the promise they brought of a child within a specified time made it clear that he was hosting angels (Hebrews 13:2).

10 Sarah overheard the conversation from behind Abraham in the women's quarters, which was separated from the men's area by a thin partition.

12 When she heard this, Sarah laughed to herself. Her faith had been weakened by the long delay, and she found it hard to believe that she would have a child at her age. When confronted about her laughter, she denied it, adding dishonesty to her unbelief. This was a serious offense (Acts 5:4), but God's grace ultimately saved her (Romans 9:18).
