Jonathan Discloses His Father's Purpose to Kill David.
Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, instructing them to kill David. This was a plan he had secretly been considering, but now he revealed it to a select few of his closest friends. Jonathan was among those who heard the king's instructions. Although he said nothing at the time, he discreetly informed David about the danger he faced and waited until morning when Saul's temper would have cooled down.
The next day, Jonathan placed David in a secure location where he could overhear the conversation between Saul and his servants without being detected. This allowed him to learn the truth about his father's intentions and be prepared to flee if necessary.
Jonathan spoke highly of David to his father, emphasizing that it would be a grave mistake to plot against someone who had consistently demonstrated unwavering loyalty and rendered invaluable services to their country. Jonathan's strong words had an impact on Saul, who was still capable of being influenced by good impressions. As a result, Saul took an oath to abandon his hostile plans, and a temporary reconciliation was achieved. This led to David being reinstated in his public role.
