1Sa 12:17-25 He Terrifies Them with Thunder in Harvest-time.

17-25. It is now wheat harvest time - a season in Palestine that typically occurs at the end of June or beginning of July, characterized by clear skies and no rain. The sudden appearance of thunder and rain without warning was a powerful demonstration of divine power. The people saw it as a miraculous sign confirming Samuel's words, and they begged him to pray for them. Samuel agreed and calmed their fears.

This event showcases Samuel's character as a great and good man who put the nation's well-being above his own interests. He had already demonstrated this selflessness in his handling of the king's appointment, now he concludes by warning the people and their new king about the dangers of turning away from God.
