Jud 6:1-6 The Israelites, for Their Sins, Oppressed by Midian.

The Israelites, for Their Sins, Oppressed by Midian.

1. The Lord handed them over to the Midianites as a result of their continued disobedience. Despite previous experiences with God's judgment, the Israelites had once again turned away from Him and committed new sins. This led to fresh judgments, including the devastating attacks of the Midianites. These people, known as "children of the East," were nomadic herdsmen who lived in the territory east of the Red Sea, near Moab. They would annually raid the land of Israel, stealing grain, livestock, and other property, leaving the inhabitants vulnerable to their attacks.

2. The Midianites made dens for themselves in the mountains and caves, using them as makeshift homes.
