Jos 5:13-15 An Angel Appears to Joshua.

When Joshua was near Jericho, he was likely surveying the city's defenses and planning his next move.

A man stood opposite him with his sword drawn, ready for battle. This was no mere vision; it was a real appearance that caught Joshua off guard but did not intimidate him.

The Lord's army was gathered around this man, and at its head was the angel of the covenant, who had appeared to Israelites before (Exodus 7:4, 12:41; Isaiah 55:4). The angel's drawn sword indicated his approval and involvement in the upcoming battle.

Joshua fell to the ground, worshiping the stranger with a deep sense of reverence. By accepting Joshua's worship, the angel revealed his true identity as a divine being worthy of honor (Acts 10:25-26; Revelation 19:10). The command that followed, "Remove your shoe from your foot" (Exodus 3:5), further confirmed the angel's divine nature and significance.
