Ac 2:41-47 Beautiful Beginnings of the Christian Church.

Beautiful Beginnings of the Christian Church.

The three thousand who gladly received Peter's message were baptized on that same day (41). It is difficult to understand how this could have happened in one day, given the limited water sources available in Jerusalem at the time. Some scholars suggest that they may have used a method of sprinkling or baptized in large vessels within their homes.

On that day, about three thousand more souls were added to the community (41). This was an auspicious beginning for the new kingdom, marked by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The new believers continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching, devoting themselves to the instructions they received from them (42). They also shared meals together, known as breaking bread, which likely included both regular meals and the Lord's Supper. In addition, they gathered for stated times of prayer.

A deep sense of awe settled over the entire community, causing fear to grip every soul (43).

The believers were united in their faith, sharing all things in common (44). They met regularly at the temple for worship, observing the Jewish hours of prayer and sacrifice. In addition, they shared meals together from house to house, eating with joy and a single-minded heart.

Their gatherings were characterized by praise and thanksgiving to God (47). The community was admired by all who observed them, and they enjoyed favor with the people. Jesus, as the glorified Head of the Church, continued to add to their numbers, drawing in those who would be saved.
