40 Jesus went on to say, "Many are invited, but few are chosen." 41 And he said to them, "Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?" They replied, "We can." 42 Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right and left is not for me to grant. That place belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father."
43 When the time came for the Passover, Jesus and his disciples sat down together. 44 One of them, Judas Iscariot, who was going to betray him, asked, "Why wasn't I included in this meal?" 45 Jesus answered, "You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
46 After he had said this, Jesus went on to wash his disciples' feet. He knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 47 so he got up from supper, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.
48 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 49 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" 50 Jesus replied, "You don't know now but later you will understand."
51 "No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my feet." 52 Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." 53 "Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and head as well!" 54 Jesus answered, "Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you."
55 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not everybody is clean. 56 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet," he said, "you also should wash one another's feet."

59 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" 60 Jesus replied, "You don't know now but later you will understand." 61 "No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my feet." 62 Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."
63 "Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and head as well!" 64 Jesus answered, "Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. 66 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet," he said, "you also should wash one another's feet." 67 Jesus did this, and then he told them, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."
68 "Lord, not my feet only but my hands and head!" Peter replied. 69 Jesus answered, "Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. 71 Now that the Passover was near, Jesus anxiously decided to go and meet his death in Jerusalem. 72 He sent two of his disciples ahead to get everything ready for their arrival; 73 they went into a house where a man was lying sick, blind and paralyzed.
74 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he went to the house and found the man lying there. 75 "Do you believe that I am able to heal you?" Jesus asked. "Yes, Lord," the man replied, "I do." 76 Then Jesus touched his eyes and said, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."
77 Many Jews had come to Martha's house, where they were mourning for their brother. 78 When Mary got up to meet them, she saw Jesus standing there and fell at his feet, saying, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." 79 But when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.
80 "Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see," they replied. 81 Then Jesus wept. 82 So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" 83 But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?"
84 When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the two that stood by her, he said unto her, Behold thy son. 85 Then he saith to the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
86 Meanwhile Martha was serving them a meal. But Mary got up quickly and went to him. 87 Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still in the open country walking towards Jerusalem. 88 Then he looked around and said to his disciples, "Where are you going?" The disciples replied, "Come and see."
89 Many of the Jews who had come with Mary believed in Jesus when they saw what he did, 90 but they also followed him because of Martha's brother. 91 But then many more began to believe in him because of his own power.
92 Now on the second day after the Passover, Jesus and his disciples went to Bethany, where they met a man who had been sick for eight years. 93 The people brought all their sick friends to be healed by Jesus, but he could not heal them all. 94 Some said that it was because of the evil spirits in the town.
