Our Lord refused to allow them to speak about their experience, for He knew that demons would eagerly testify to His identity as Christ in order to create a false appearance of unity between Him and themselves. This was precisely why they were so eager to give testimony - it would have seemed to confirm the accusations of His enemies (see Matthew 12:24 and Acts 16:16-18).
