Lu 23:6-12 The return of the prisoner only deepened the perplexity of

Pilate, who called together the chief priests, rulers, and people, informed them that none of their accusations against this man had been substantiated, even though he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction. He would therefore punish him and release him (Luke 23:13-16).

But you have a custom that I should release one prisoner to you at the Passover, as it is written in Mark 15:7-11. The significance of releasing this man, who was chosen to suffer, can be seen in Leviticus 16:5-10, where the sin offering on the great day of atonement is described.
