As Jesus walked across the lake on the water, he saw Peter getting out of the boat and walking towards him. But when Peter's eyes were fixed on the wind and the waves, he became frightened and began to sink.

The Lord stretched out his hand and caught hold of Peter, saying, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" This rebuke was not a mere expression of displeasure, but rather an opportunity for Peter to learn from his experience.
