Mr 12:13-40 Entangling Questions about Tribute the Resurrection, and

And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, "How do you say that Christ is the son of David?" The scribes had been proclaiming that Messiah would be the son of David, but Jesus asked them to think about it more deeply.

For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, "The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'" (Psalm 110:1) This was a prophecy that spoke of Messiah as being superior to David. If Messiah is inferior to David as his son according to the flesh, then how can he be called "Lord" by David himself? The only solution to this puzzle is that Messiah has both human and divine natures, and His kingdom is spiritual.

The common people heard Jesus gladly, but no one was able to answer Him a word. From that day on, no one dared to ask Him any more questions.

Jesus then said to the crowd in his teaching, "Beware of the scribes who love to go around in long robes and receive salutations in the marketplaces." They also loved to take the chief seats in the synagogues and the uppermost rooms at feasts. But what's even worse is that they would devour the property of widows and make a show of praying for hours, all while pretending to be pious.

These scribes will receive greater condemnation because they took advantage of vulnerable people and used their supposed piety as a cover for their greed. This description fits perfectly with the behavior of some clergy in Jesus' day, and unfortunately, it still applies today.
