Da 4:1-37 Edict of Nebuchadnezzar Containing His Second Dream,

13:1-14 The king had a dream that troubled him, and he called for his wise men to interpret it. They couldn't figure it out, so they asked Daniel for help. Daniel prayed to God for insight, and in a night vision, he saw four great beasts rising from the sea. The first was like a lion with eagle's wings, representing Babylon. The second was a bear that devoured many people, symbolizing Medo-Persia. The third beast was a leopard with four heads, signifying Greece under Alexander's successors. The fourth beast was terrifying and had iron teeth, representing the Roman Empire.

13:15-28 Daniel explained to the king that God had given him this vision of future empires, and that the fourth beast would be destroyed but not by human hands. A divine kingdom would then arise, and all earthly kingdoms would become like chaff blown away by a windstorm. The stone cut out without human hands would crush the image of gold, silver, and bronze, representing the ultimate triumph of God's kingdom over all others.

13:29-37 Daniel told the king that he had been given this vision to make known to him the interpretation of the dream. He explained that the fourth beast was the Roman Empire, which would be divided into four kingdoms, but ultimately destroyed by a divine power. The stone cut out without human hands represented God's kingdom, which would crush all earthly powers and establish an eternal reign.

13:38-43 Daniel interpreted the statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream as representing various empires that would rise and fall, with the final empire being the Roman Empire. He explained that a divine stone would strike the image on its feet, shattering it into pieces, and that this event would happen at the end of time.

14:1-12 Daniel told Nebuchadnezzar to worship the statue or face severe punishment. The king refused, and God gave him a warning through a dream. In the dream, a tree was cut down, but its stump grew into a new tree that became even stronger than before. This represented Nebuchadnezzar's own fate: he would be driven out of his kingdom for seven years, but then restored to greater glory.

14:13-22 Daniel told Nebuchadnezzar that the dream was an announcement of his impending fall from power and his subsequent restoration. The king refused to listen, and God gave him a warning through a series of visions.
