2Ch 7:12-22 God Appears to Him.

God Appears to Him.

The Lord appeared to Solomon at night (see 1 Kings 9:1-9). The dedication of the temple was a significant event that captured the attention of Solomon and his people. This interest wasn't limited to a specific time or place; it remains an important part of Israel's history, even today. The fact that this was the only temple where the true God was worshipped gives the scene a profound moral significance, preparing the mind for Solomon's sublime prayer at the dedication.

The pure monotheism and acknowledgment of God's moral perfections in his providence and grace expressed in that prayer came from a divine source, just like the miraculous fire. These sentiments and feelings of devotion were not the result of human ingenuity but flowed from the fountain of revelation. The miracle confirmed the reality of God's presence, authenticating the theology of temple worship with its seal of truth.
