22. In his time of distress, he committed even more offenses against the Lord.

This infatuated king allowed himself to be completely controlled by idolatry and used his royal authority to spread it further, driven by a passionate intensity that was characteristic of paganism, accompanied by a servile fear and a ruthless defiance of God.
