Pekahiah, son of Menahem, began to reign. However, it appears that several months passed between his father's death and his own accession to the throne, likely due to a dispute over succession.
With Argob and Arieh, along with others, Pekahiah was murdered. Some commentators view these individuals as accomplices in the king's assassination, but it is more probable that they were influential friends who were killed alongside him.
