1Ki 5:7-12 Furnishes Timber to Build the Temple.

7. The language used by Hiram is not necessarily an indication that he was a worshipper of the true God. He may have been acknowledging Jehovah as the god of the Hebrews out of respect for their polytheistic beliefs (see 2 Chronicles 2:11).

8. Hiram sent a message to Solomon, stating that he had carefully considered their agreement and would fulfill his obligations. The terms of the contract were formally recorded in writing (2 Chronicles 2:11), which was preserved in both Jewish and Tyrian records.

10. The trees referred to here are likely cypress rather than fir.

11. Hiram provided an annual supply of food for Solomon's household, distinct from the provisions mentioned in 2 Chronicles 2:10, which were intended for the workers in the forests.
