15-16. God spoke to Noah and said, "Go forth from the ark." They left in an orderly manner, with humans first, followed by each species according to their kinds (Genesis 8:19). This indicates that there had been a significant increase in population during their time on the ark.
20. Noah built an altar as a place of sacrifice, likely a mound of earth. It was a beautiful expression of gratitude for God's mercy and goodness in saving him and his family from the flood. He took every clean animal and bird to offer thanks for this unparalleled deliverance.
21. The Lord accepted the sacrifice offered by Noah with great pleasure, as if it were the most fragrant incense. In response, God said in His heart that He had sworn not to destroy the earth again (Isaiah 54:9). Although humanity's imagination is prone to evil, God chose to spare them and grant them the blessings of grace through a Savior.
22. As long as the earth remains, there will be no flood like this one until it is consumed by fire on the day of judgment (2 Peter 3:7).
