Ge 46:28-34 Arrival in Egypt.

Arrival in Egypt.

Joseph sent Judah ahead to inform him of their arrival, which was a necessary precaution for notifying Pharaoh and receiving instructions from Joseph about where they would settle.

Joseph prepared his chariot, a lighter and more elegant vehicle drawn by horses, suitable for a public figure like himself. In contrast, the wagons used by Jacob's family were simple and humble. This difference in transportation reflected their respective social positions.

When Judah presented himself to Joseph, he did so with filial reverence (compare Exodus 22:17). The reunion was an emotional moment, filled with joy for Jacob, who had been reunited with his beloved son. In that instant, life's greatest happiness seemed within reach, and Jacob could have felt content to depart in peace.

Joseph informed Pharaoh of their arrival as a sign of respect due the king. He then gave them instructions worthy of his character as both an affectionate brother and a man of faith.
