Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, where he stood on the top of Pisgah overlooking Jericho. The Lord showed him every corner of the land: Gilead, Dan, Naphtali, Ephraim and Manasseh, Judah all the way down to the western sea.

He saw the entire region from Gilead in the north to Dan, including all of Naphtali and the lands of Ephraim and Manasseh. He also saw the southern part of the land, as well as the Plain of Jericho, the city of palm trees, right down to Zoar.

The Lord said to him, "This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, promising it to your descendants. And now, you get to see it with your own eyes, but you will not be entering it." Moses, the devoted servant of the Lord, passed away in the land of Moab as the Lord had decreed.

Moses was buried in a valley near Beth-peor in the land of Moab. To this day, nobody knows where his final resting place is. At the age of one hundred and twenty, Moses died; despite his advanced age, his eyesight remained sharp and his physical strength had not diminished.

For thirty days, the children of Israel mourned the loss of Moses in the plains of Moab. After their period of mourning came to an end, Joshua, son of Nun, took over, filled with the spirit of wisdom after Moses laid hands on him. The people listened to and obeyed Joshua just as they had done with Moses.

There has never been anyone like Moses in all of Israel – someone who knew the Lord face-to-face and performed countless signs and wonders at His command in Egypt. He showed Pharaoh, his servants, and his land the full extent of God's mighty power and great terror, which he displayed before the eyes of all Israel.
