Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign as king over Judah. He ruled from Jerusalem for sixteen years. His mother's name was Jerushah, and she was the daughter of Zadok.

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just like his father Uzziah had done before him. However, Jotham never entered the temple to worship because the people were still corrupt and had not turned back to the Lord.

Jotham made significant contributions to Jerusalem's infrastructure. He built the high gate of the house of the Lord, which served as a major entrance point for worshippers. He also constructed strong fortifications on the wall of Ophel.

In addition to his architectural projects, Jotham expanded Judah's borders by building cities in the mountains and constructing defensive systems in the forests. This strategic development helped secure Judah's safety and prosperity.

Jotham engaged in military campaigns against the king of Ammon, a neighboring nation that had long been a thorn in Judah's side. As a result of his victory, Jotham received substantial tribute from the Ammonites. They paid him one hundred talents of silver, as well as ten thousand measures each of wheat and barley during the first year alone. This payment continued for two more years.

Jotham became increasingly powerful due to his consistent preparation before the Lord God. He remained focused on maintaining a strong relationship with God, which enabled him to achieve great things.

A detailed record of Jotham's reign can be found in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. It includes an account of all his military campaigns and endeavors.

Jotham began his reign at twenty-five years old and ruled for sixteen years from Jerusalem.

Eventually, Jotham passed away, and he was buried alongside his ancestors in the city of David. His son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
